The concept of EuroSkills Competition was first introduced  by Skills Netherlands - National Skills Organization of Holland. The European Skills Promotion Organization (ESPO) was registered in January 2007 and now gathers 31 member countries. You will find the members list here. The ESPO Secretariat is established in Skills Netherlands offices. First ESPO General Assembly took place on September 18th 2007 in Budapest. The first EuroSkills Competition was held  on September 18-20 2008 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and the second one in December 2010 in Lisbon, Portugal. On Jan 1-st 2011 ESPO has changed the name to WorldSkills Europe.

WorldSkills Europe Main Objectives 

  • to promote excellence in skills
  • to raise the awareness of the professional excellence and of high quality VET importance
  • to increase and develop the cooperation between field organizations
  • to support European lifelong learning policy
  • to encourage world class skills and competence standards in Europe
  • to enhance the status and attractiveness of VET

WorldSkills Europe Main Tasks

  • to organize a biennial EuroSkills Competition
  • to develop services and products
  • to establish or further develop national skills competition culture and/or structure
  • to create platforms for the collaboration of working life and VET
  • to promote European skills on global level
  • to support EU policy and programs
